Kris Allen all over my face

I hate to say it...

But the new album...it's kind of garbage.

I'm trying REAL HARD to like it.

But there is just so much uninspired filler.

This song below is kind of funny though.

It's called "Written All Over My Face"

Except, he sings the "written" part kind of softly and the emphasis is on "all over my face", and so he just keeps screaming "ALL OVER MY FACE!!!!!!" over and over and over and it makes me smile.

And giggle a little.

At 1:18 he actually sounds like he says "When you spray all over my face."

....

Why am I even telling you. Don't bother listening to the song.

It's terrible.

...................

His version of "Heartless" is deece though.

Goodbye Ma'am Oprah!

(CNN) -- Oprah Winfrey knows how to keep viewers on the edge of their seats.

In the last 10 minutes of her show, Winfrey confirmed that she will be ending her syndicated "Oprah Winfrey Show" in September 2011.

"After much prayer and months of careful thought, I thought that next season, season 25, will be the last season of 'The Oprah Winfrey Show,' " she told the audience.

"You may hear a lot of speculation in the press about why I'm making this decision now, and I wanted you to hear it from me," she said. "Twenty-four years ago on September 8, 1986, I went live from Chicago to launch the first show. I was beyond excited, and a little nervous."

Winfrey remained calm after her announcement, even when guest Ray Romano joked that she was going to make this is his mother's saddest and happiest day by simultaneously having Romano on and confirming the Oprah era had come to an end.

"I knew what a miraculous opportunity I had been given, but I certainly couldn't have imagined the yellow brick road of blessings," Winfrey said, pausing as she became visibly and audibly choked up. "You, the viewers, have enriched my life beyond measure. You have graciously invited me into your kitchens, living rooms and lives. Some of you have literally grown up with me; we've grown up together.

"Whether you've been there in the beginning or just started last week, I hold it dear. It still means as much to me to spend an hour with you as it did in 1986," she said.

And then, the answer to the most obvious question: why leave the show? Oprah didn't give much of an answer.

"Here is the real reason: I love this show, this show is my life, and I love it enough to know when it's time to say goodbye. It's the perfect number, the exact right time," she said.

She encouraged her fans to stick out the next 18 months as she and her production team pull out all the stops to make the last season of "Oprah" one that will "knock your socks off."

"The countdown to the end of 'The Oprah Winfrey Show' starts now," she said. "Until that day, I intend to soak up every meaningful, joyful moment with you. I'll see you on Monday."

I hate this man so much

Lazy Last Day in New Orleans!

Ok so the discrepancy between Adam's smileyface and Adam's scaryface is enormous and terrifying.

Exhibit A: Smileyface
(taken the night we all first met)

Exhibit B: SCARYFACE
("Keys!!!!!!")

Oh my god it is so frightening.

Do you want to know why he told me I am "That ANNOYING person that everyone HATES!!!" the night before?

Because on our cab ride home I tried to spit my gum out my window and missed and it landed on the car-window sill and so I had to pick it up and throw it out by hand.

That's all.

Furyface, I'm telling you. I thought I was going to be murdered in my sleep.

Anyway.....things were slightly better in the morning.

Khalil came over and we laid around talking about how we were so hungry and needed to get food, but didn't actually make it out of bed until 3pm when we hit Port of Call.

After that we went back to bed, drank every alcoholic beverage in the house, and giggled our way through back-to-back episodes of Glee, Modern Family (best show currently on TV), and Arrested Development (best show EVER) until the wee hours of the morning.

We drove to the airport. I flew to Atlanta. Stuffed my face with Chick fil-A. Flew back to NYC. And now I'm home resting up and enjoying the calm before the storm. (The storm being the upcoming barrage of visitors, birthday parties (including my own), and thanksgiving dinners.)

Yay!

Thank you Adam and Katie and Semmesey and Khalil for a wonderful week in New Orleans!

(minus the yelling)

New Orleans: Streetcar Pub Crawl / Rock N Bowl

Adam and Khalil's friends organize an annual Streetcar Pub Crawl where a gang of gays ride the local streetcars up through the city wreaking havoc at every stop along the way.

There was a group of about forty or so of us.

Insanity.

And New Orleans streetcars are notoriously inefficient.

For instance, it took about 30 minutes for each of us to buy a day-pass from the driver and load up into the trolley, at which point cars behind us (and regular people on the trolley), had no choice but to just sit and wait. (The cars run on a track, so there is no passing.)

And the other day, Khalil reported that his streetcar driver literally just stopped her trolley on its tracks to step out and get a little sit-down breakfast.

Suuuper fun!

And I befriended a really nice obese!

After a few bars, I bailed to join Smershy and Semmes who were making a delicious dinner.

Fish!

And cookies!

After which we went to Rock N' Bowl. This fantastic bar/music/bowling alley.

(I am terrible at bowling.)

But we got superdrunkfaced!

After all this funnery we were going to head over to the Pub to meet back up with Adam and the Pub Crawlers, but the night ended when multiple people's fury-faces appeared and we ended up going home very abruptly.

Line of the night: "YOU are that ANNOYING person that everyone HATES."

New Orleans: Friday night wastedface

Katie and Semmesey had a fancy benefit to attend at the Museum.

So they dropped Audrey and I off to enjoy $3 martinis at Phillip's.

Also Khalil had just defended his thesis so we were celebrating that.

After the benefit, Katie and Semmes met up with us again for some dancing upstairs at the Pub.

After which we ended up dancing in the streets outside Napolean's Itch with some really hilarious blacks.

I love Bourbon St!

New Orleans: Parks and Recreation

Adam lives at the most incredible intersection of streets EVER.

Carondelet between Peniston and General Taylor (which, when spoken fast and in a southern accent becomes "Genitalia".)

Amazing.

For the rent we pay for a single tiny room in NYC he and his roommates are able to rent a beautiful three bedroom house with three bathrooms, laundry room, kitchen, dining room, and living room. Sigh.....

For brunch, Adam, Khalil, and I hit Milk Bar.

They specialize in giant scrumptious sandwiches.

We drove by Katie and Semmes' new home.

And then walked around Audobon Park which is I think where Tulane is.

It was such a beauuutiful day and wonderful escape from the frigidness that is New York.

We also went to City Park, which claims to be the largest city park in the USA.

At the end of the day, Adam's wonderful roommate Michelle came by with a bottle of wiiiine.

I love daydrinking!

The above photo series was inspired by Britney's amazing song "3" which if you don't know you definitely shouuuuld...

1-Year Ankle-versary

I forgot to mention that two days ago was the one-year anniversary of my breaking my ankle.

The ball of my foot still bugs me a bit when I walk because I still have a limited range of motion...but I'm so grateful to at least be able to walk.

Eeek. I still cringe re-living the experience in my mind.

New Orleans: Trip Four, Part 1

Sorry for the absence AC, DHong, etc.! I'm on my way back to New York and hopefully will get to post a few things while in transit today.

---------------------------------

Yay yay yay!

Going down to New Orleans means I get to see my three favorite people south of the Mason-Dixon line: Katie, Semmesey, and almost-doctor Adam!

On night one we dined at Cochon which features Cajun Southern-Style yumminess.

Adam had the Louisiana Cochon with turnips, cabbage & cracklins.

A cochon is, I believe, a big thing of yummy shredded roasted swinepig and a cracklin is like an onion ring except instead of a crunchy breaded and encased onion you have a yummy encased piece of fried fat.

SWINEPIG + FRIED FAT = HEAVENLY TASTE EXPLOSION IN MAH MOUTH

For me I had the Rabbit and Dumplings.

Katie had a potato stuffed with more potato and delicious sourcreamyconcoction.

Our other Brownfriend Audrey was in town visiting too.

Afterwards we hit up a classic New Orleans-y bar with live music and dancing.

Yay favorite people!

Off to New Orleans / Upcoming Adventures

I finally caught up on blogging and now I'm off to New Orleans again for another round of adventures.

I'm back Monday after which I'll be "staying put" for the rest of the month.

December is going to be insane though. I will be in NYC for all of three days.

Dec 2-9 I'll be in LA.

Then from LA I take a red-eye on the 9th landing at JFK at 7am on the 10th. At noon that day I fly to Chicago for a belated Thanksgiving celebration with the rest of the Kwans.

Then I fly back to NYC from Chicago on Dec 14th and then jet off to LA again on the 16th for a couple of shoots.

On the 22nd I fly to Hong Kong for Christmas and New Years and then I'll finally return to the states January 7, 2010.

I'm planning to give myself a raise in the next few months. Probably while I'm gone will be a good time for this.

I think 2010 is going to be a great year!

Non-stop Chinktown

Over the past four days I've eaten in Chinatown on three separate occasions.

Do I have a problem?

Probably.

My problem is: I RUV FOOD.

More specifically: I RUV DUMPERRRING.

My favorite new discovery (when I'm not at Tasty Hand-Pulled Noodle) is Shanghai Cuisine at the corner of Bayard and Mulberry Street.

I went there with TimLoh and friends for Sunday brunch and it was actually part 2 of a 2-part Chinatown feast and I had just been there the day before.

Also none of these idiots had ever used or heard of the iPhone app Bump which is truly awesome because you just bump your phones together to swap contact information, pictures, etc. and they all downloaded and we spent hours bumping stuff to each other.

Yesterday Felly got back from London/Paris/Turkey and had a few extra vacation days left so we tried again to go to Shanghai Cuisine.

Unfortunately they are closed Tuesdays so we settled on an old favorite, New Green Bo, which sillily has been renamed "Nice Green Bo".

Oh those Asians.

Bridget's B'day @ Cafe Charbon

Kate invited Tom and me to Cafe Charbon for her best friend Bridget's birthday.

Cafe Charbon is literally a block away from my apartment.

Yay!

I had no idea such a fun dance party existed within steps of my home.

(Actually wait, this is a lie, Pianos is steps from my home.)

Whatever.

Double-fisting was in order.

And cake!

The birthday girl provided all kinds of fun party favors including champagne and twisty straws and star-glasses.

I love an impromptu night of random fun!

BYOWhiteWine / NoPantsParty

Friday night I met up with Megoon and Dan at Bhatti, formerly known as Kabab Factory.

They've moved across the street at 27th and Lexington to a wonderful clean new location.

They still feature BYOWhiteWine though!

And the menu has expanded and is just as delicious.

Afterwards I headed cross town to AC and Shiri's where a party was underway.

Dancing commenced and pants came off.

I'd long heard about these pants-off parties but had yet to witness one.

It was wonderful.

What a bunch of monkys.

Jed Foundation Afterparty featuring The Fray

If there's one wonderful thing the eggblog has brought into my life it would be the DannyHong.

If there are three wonderful things then it would be the DannyHong and his best friends from HBS, Noopur and Zameer.

Noopur has a fabulous job at MTV and always knows where the party at, and, more importantly, can get you in.

So Wednesday night I landed at JFK from LAX and the first thing I see in my inbox is that there's this awards-banquet afterparty going on and it's featuring the Fray and it's open bar and Get Here Now.

So I dropped off my luggage and booked it over B.B. King's in Times Square (where we last saw Boyz II Men) to meet up with all of them.

We walked into the venue and there were all these beerwenches just lined up begging us to relieve them of their beverages.

It was fantastic.

There may have been some double-fisting...

Wilmer Valderrama came onstage to introduce the band and to talk about the Jed Foundation.

We had a great spot right up against the stage.

Seriously I was so close to Ike Slade I could have slapped him.

So yeah, the main benefactor of the whole event was The Jed Foundation which is an organization aimed at preventing emotional distress and suicide among young people.

The Fray was an interesting choice of headliner for a suicide fundraiser, since their music is kind of...well...depressing...

But whatever, it was a blast.

And I bumped into my buddy Charlie and his pal Jon Oliver from the Daily Show!

Also there were a ton of hot young Marines present.

Hmmmmm....

Noops befriended a gorgeous Brazilian-looking modelman.

And I went and made some new Marine friends.

And of course we double-fisted our faces off. Yay.

Thanks again for the invite Snoopy!

Smileywine Party @ the Bel Air Vineyard

So the morning after Halloween (yes I am seriously behind in blogging) I rolled out of bed off the couch still wearing my taco costume and tried to get myself together for the Annual Brown Gala at the Bel Air Vineyard.

The wonderful family that owns the vineyard (which produces Smileywine) also happens to be family of Brown alums!

Their home (which is also the vineyard) was gargantuan.

Honestly these pictures will never do the property justice, but here goes.

You walk in through the main entrance...

And you're in the grand foyer...

Walk through the foyer, through the dining room...

Through the kitchen...

Out onto the back patio...

Once out on the back patio there's the pool and an incredible view of the vineyard.

Also there's a pond of very happy Koi.

Beyond the pool lies the tennis court...

And beyond that lies another elevated terrace, beyond which finally lies the vineyard.

We brunched to the music of a delightful string quartet.

The food spread was epic.

Finger sandwiches...

Tuna-cucumbers.

Smoked salmon thingys...

And of course, MEATBALLS.

YUM.

Lots of Brown alums from all years attended.

And though there was no Smileywine in sight (they opted to break out the nicer, pricier varietals) there was plenty to drink.

I love Browns!

In the late afternoon there was a raffle, with prizes ranging from fancy dinners to a trip to Hawaii to a photo session with a really amazing photographer (me)...

My friend (and super-successful voiceover artist) Amanda ended up winning the photo session.

Yay! It was such a great Sunday. I really wish there had been Smileywine because everyone was all smiles all day long.

We did, of course, have to take at least one obligatory fierceface picture because (a.) we are assholes and (b.) fierce-facing is FUN!

Best week ever!

I know this is super old news but I didn't start watching the show until last night.

Yaya, who is Brown '04, and whose headshots I took eons ago, is on Ugly Betty this season playing Nico Slater, Vanessa William's daughter.

She looks amazing.

Watch the show on Hulu before they start charging!

Halloween 2006: A little mustard for your deeeleeecious sandwich???

Halloween 2007: All Hail the Unicorn Prince

Halloween 2007: Yao revisited.

Halloween 2008: Sexy Pilots

Danny found some neato plates and decorations at the 99 cent store.

Jesse came over early to get ready.

While we waited for him to paint every inch of his body, we made cupcakes!

Tra-La!

The Jolly Green Giant emerged. And carved a beautiful pumpkin.

So artistic!

Jihan showed up as Kim Kardashian.

Kate was Little Dead Riding Hoodrat.

Evan was Elvis and made sliders.

They were incredible.

Yay giants!

Captain Planet!

Party guests were slow to trickle in, so we walked downstairs to experience the mayhem that is West Hollywood.

It was really funny. As I walked around, strangers would go "Taco? Taco? TACO!!!!"

Marcus was a teabagger.

We saw some gay cowboys...

Random Santas...

Lady Gaga!

Scubu people...

Hotties from 300...

Lois? Is that you????

Oh and LaToya Jackson was serving shakes at Millions of Milkshakes!

Fabulous!

We got back to the apartment it was PACKED.

Charlie brought a hottie in pink.

Adam showed up as Adam Lambert...

Marcus and PeterPhillip realized they were matching...

Jimmy was Quail Man.

Sookie Stackhouse!

Arlene!!! (with Michael Phelps)

A WASTED Green Giant!

People from Dr. Horrible's Singalong Blog!

And what I think was the costume of the night...

Brian as Julia Child.

It was awesome and we set up my computer and the sound system so that I could control the music/dance party from my iPhone with this awesome program called "Remote".

SO MUCH FUNNNNNNNNNN.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!!

Chris Rock's "Good Hair"

#1 Eggfurious reader Dannyhong and I went on a movie date tonight and saw Chris Rock's new documentary "Good Hair" and it was AMAZING.

It's hilarious and entertaining and really interesting and marginally educational.

Really educational for me because it brought me into a world I've never even thought about.

You HAVE to see this movie.

It got a 95% on Rotten Tomatoes's Tomatometer. That's pretty frickin' good.

Rachael and Rob move to NYC

The Occasion: Rob & Rach's Going Away Party

The Location: Del's Saloon

Previous Events Held At Said Venue:

Doug's Birthday

Rach & Rob's Engagement Party
And of course, my Super Wastedface 26th Birthday

So following the MJ Premiere, we booked it across town to Del's to celebrate Rach's triumphant return (with spankin' new hottie husband Rob) to the East Coast.

(P.S. I just noticed the above picture has an arrow that says "Cock" and that is kind of awesome.)

Can't believe it's been four years since Rachie and Brianne rolled into our Brockton living room fresh out of college.

Many came to wish them well.

We ran into Adam Sandler's best friend Peter Dante. (You'd probably recognize him from movies like Grandma's Boy or Big Daddy.)

And Silly Annie continued channeling MJ all night.

Even as we got wastedface.

Goodbye Rach and Rob! See y'alls on the East Coast.

Michael Jackson - This Is It "Premiere"

Annie had an extra ticket and invited me to join her family on Friday for the Premiere of Michael Jackson's "This Is It".

She told me to get down to the brand new theater at Staples Center "sooner rather than later" because it was going to be crazy and the place was totally sold out.

For the occasion she got dressed as MJ himself.

We were really excited for the film.

So we got into the theater an hour early and it was completely empty. And it stayed that way.

But yay private screening!

The film was beautiful and moving and magical.

It was a great final tribute to a true icon. You should definitely see it.

------------------------------

After the film, I forced Kimmie to pose with The Chipmunks.

Also, I realized that Tatyana's boyfriend was wearing the exact same shirt as me.

Awkward...

Thanks for the invite Annie! It was wonderful! You are a total weirdo! Yayyyyy!

Costume Quest and Party-Prep

Remember when Danny and I went on a Kross Kuntry Adventure?

Friday was kind of like that.

But it was about 10,000 times shorter.

We started at California Roll Factory for some much needed sustenance.

Then hit up Costco for party supplies.

And finally the Halloween Store to find Danny a costume.

We tried on several silly ones.

Encountered more creepy dead babies.

And had a Hot Danny sighting!

Roommate Danny settled on a hot dog costume to go with my taco.

And that's it. We're done.

We have sooo much booze.
