Fire Island

So the trip to Fire Island was a long and treacherous one.

We sat in Brooklyn traffic for a good couple of hours...

And then we arrived at ferry pier only to see the last Kismet ferry pulling away from the dock...

So...we quickly iPhone'd some information and found out we could catch another ferry to another part of Fire Island and then walk a few miles to our house...ugh...

Luckily, once we got to Fire Island, we were able to catch a late-night water taxi to our final destination.

We finally arrived at our house, "Lovers and Other Strangers"...

Marveled at its epic-ness...

Hooked up the iPod...and commenced festivities...

As I said before, my camera broke midway through the first night. So I only have pictures from the first few hours of funnery.

It was an incredible weekend though.

At one point, we played an epic game of Kings.

And after the trip, having played some of the most hilarious rounds of categories EVER, we came up with this list of Things We Love About Fire Island:

1. The Paper Plate Dance
2. Nude beaches
3. Petey Pablo getting locked out sleeping in the storage shed.
4. Actually, everything Petey Pablo did.
5. Secretly making out with bartenders
6. Buffalo chicken wraps
7. Taku's submission of "Hole" as a term of endearment for one's significant other during Categories...
8. Senior citizen dance party
9. KG squealing and running out of the water like a little girl after being attacked by a fluther of man-eating jellyfish.
10. Anything made in a blender
11. Cathleen's patriotic/Hell's Angels beachwear
12. Bike rentals
13. Creating paper plate trails a la Hansel and Gretel all over the island...
14. KG not taking his pants off
15. Spiral sausage.
16. Tak's late-night spread eagle assault on Carly's face.
17. Tak's sudden emergence from being passed out by yelling, "My dick"
18. Certain people actually taking their pants off.

Such a good time.

Fire Island. I will be back.

Epic Hoochie Celebration

The Noguchi's Hoochies kicked ass on Friday. Won 13-1.

I was wearing my sweet new uniform. (I don't actually play. I just show up occassionally and sit and clap softly.)

We kicked off the victory celebration with a game of Kings.

Mark ended up losing.

Flip-cup followed...

Oh and I met my new teammate Kathleen, who accidentally stumbled on this blog several months ago when she was doing a google search for "Party Bus NYC" and realized she knew everyone.

(She begged not to be featured.)

Hi Kathleen!

Eventually an iPod got hooked up.

And the dance party started.

And Mark poured beer on everyone.

Killer track of the evening:

Metrostation - "Shake It"

Who needs a bar or dance club when you have Hoochies and a living room?

We are ridiculous.

To the Poconos!

So the Poconos is a animal-infested area of mountains and lakes about two hours west of NYC just over the border of Pennsylvania.

We caravan-ed out of the city around 9pm.

Desperate to stock up on a weekend's supply of alcohol before stores closed, we made several unsuccessful stops at various supermarkets and convenience stores, including one in East Orange - crackhead capital of the world.

We continued driving through the wilderness...

...and at 11:58pm were about to give up hope...when suddenly out of the corner of our eye, we spotted a big beacon of alcoholic goodness that said "BEER".

Almost without hesitation...or regard for human life...we pulled a crazy U-turn and made it into the store with literally seconds to spare before closing time.

The checkout lady was cranky and would only allow us one alcohol item per person.

It was totally lame. But we were so overjoyed to not be completely deprived of life-giving alcohol that we each gleefully grabbed a case and a random sandwich and made off, laughing, into the night.

Poconos!!!!!
