The Standard (again), Kampuchea, and Los Feliz!

Melanie (Megoon's superfun future sister-in-law) and I have been making plans to spend time together and bond before Meghan's wedding (Saturday) and our busy schedules just haven't allowed it. I'm in Norway. She's in Vegas. I'm in Dallas. She's in Miami. I'm in LA. She's in Indiana.

Basically, we're crazy.

Well finally a week before the big day, things worked out and we happened to be in the same neighborhood at the same time. She texted me while I was at Splash Happy Hour saying she was at the Standard Beer Garden. Yay!

I had just been there the night before but it is a lovely place and I was happy to walk two blocks to meet up with my favorite Blake Lively clone.

We had a random "celebrity" sighting. The husband of one of the Real Housewives of New York supposedly (I don't watch the show)...

Beers beers beers. It's been a good week.

Afterwards we headed off to our respective homes to regroup and chow down.

I met up with Tim and Tom and Mags for some yummy Cambodian-ish food at Kampuchea in the LES.

(It's really really good.)

Then we decided to stay LES because Noops had informed us of some epic DJ playing at Los Feliz just a few blocks away. Love it when I'm stumbling distance from my home!

So Melanie looks like Blake Lively and Blake Lively looks like Ke$ha and therefore Melanie looks like Ke$ha so when we're on a dancefloor and I see her walk into the room I can't help but imagine her singing, "Now the party don't start til' I walk in!!!"
(Don'tSTOPmakeitPOPDJblowmyspeakersUPTONIGHTi'mmaFIGHTtilweseethesunLIGHT)

So fun!

Everyone took turns buying shotz.

And it was one epic song after the next.

Amazing night!

Mark & Todd's: The End of an Era

Todd is switching apartments and vacating the home that has been his since the day I met him.

But moving into his room? Taku!

It would be a shame to give up the room to a random. The place is really so epic.

Beer Pong central. (Also ankle-break central.)

We were being visited by Nupur and Varun. Felix's wonderful cousins who basically feel like family now after having spent a full week with them at Vitri and Jordan's wedding.

So to celebrate Todd's departure/Taku's arrival, it was a PongParty of epic proportions.

Tons of Brownies and honorary Brownies were on-hand.

Also, there was a can of Pringles.

And more than enough beer, clearly.

The place got packed. It was a very good showing.

Yay for new New Yorkers!

Yay for visitors!

And superyay to whoever came up with the concept of Wine-bag Slapping.

The End.

Karaoke, Leukemia-Kegs, and Gardenwarming

The weekend kicked off Thursday with Rock n' Roll Karaoke at Otto's Shrunken Head.

Rock n' Roll Karaoke is awesome. You're limited to the number of songs you can choose from, but you get a live band backing you up as you sing.

........................

Friday night...

Well...we'll just pretend Friday night never happened.

It was so fun...until vomit happened.

...................

Saturday, we went to my friend/and fellow photographer Eric's rooftop where he was hosting a 90's-themed Keg Party to benefit the Leukemia marathon he was about to run.

I enjoy drinking. And if drinking helps cure cancer...I am so there.

Coincidentally the party was hosted on a rooftop overlooking Felix's epic patio, my second home.

Present at the party was a little injured puppy...

And a keg. (Three actually...)

We didn't really know anyone else there...

So it was just me and my fellow giant, Jessie.

Groups were all spread out doing their own thing...

But then a party-goer noticed something out of the corner of her eye and screamed out "SOMEONE'S HAVING SEX!!!!"

Everyone ran to the edge of the rooftop to look.

It was a bonding experience. Hilarious.

Megoon came...

And whisked us downstairs to feast on Italian.

Afterward, we ended up in Chelsea at a Gardenwarming party hosted by my new friends Noopur and Zameer. (Thank you #1 reader D. Hong for the intro.)

Their new place is great and I forsee many epic parties happening there in the future.

Roxanne is back in NYC job-searching!

And I found some Giant Asians!

Thank you guys for a fantastic time.

Off to eat our leftovers!
