Mosquitoes and the Market

It was most horrendous night ever.

EVER.

You know how when there are mosquitoes and they bite you all over and fly in your ears and you hear their horrendous buzzing and shit?

IT IS THE WORST.

See, Tee's guest house is beautiful...but surrounded by a moat.

Moat = Mosquito Mania

.........................

Felix slept like this:

But still emerged all bug-bitten.

We groggily awoke and went to the weekend market.

Cheap delicious Thai foods cure all.

And gift shopping.

Our final treat was delicious dragon-beard candy.

Yummy.

Anne pondered the wonder of Thailand one last time...

And now...off to the airport and back to Hong Kong!

Casa de Teebags/Vomit Asians

We were awakened at Tee's house by the bites of mosquitoes, barking guard dogs, and the not-so-pleasurable calls of exotic and domesticated food-fowl.

Since my last visit, Tee's parents have decided to build a sweet secondary house on their property with an elevator that they can use in their old age. (They are no where near wheelchair-bound yet, but I guess there's never any harm in being prepared...)

It overlooks the main house, which now kind of serves as the guest house.

Beauteousness.

Everyone was a little moody and pre-menstrual this morning, especially Alpha-Tourist Anne, who got our lazy lounging asses out of bed with a not-so-subtle, "Um, guys....I'm all for napping and shit...but let's try to get some sightseeing in first?"

And so we bid one palace goodbye.

And went in search of others...

Of course, cab drivers in Thailand sprechen kein English.

And so we got lost.

Several times.

We saw zero palaces. Rode in several cabs. Ate not-delicious but oh-so-cheap street-food ($1/person for full meals with sodas for the three of us.)

And ended up back at our favorite coffee shop.

For dinner we went to Kuppa, which is soooo delicious.

And then it was off to the club again.

This time. A hip-hop club.

Thailand is sweet because everyone just buys a bottle from the bar for the price you would in a liquor store, you go to a table, and you drink it.

Of course, the Asians cannot handle that much alcohol, and so the following is common:

Citing jetlag, we kind of abandoned wasted Tee at the club with her Thai friends. Sorry Teebags!

And then attempted to find our own way home.

Unsuccessfully.

Somehow we made the best of it.

Back to HK tomorrow!

Bangkok Day 2

We woke and went downstairs for a massive breakfast buffet.

Good food = Good mood

My favorites were the mini pork spring rolls and pineapple.

The Thai baht:US dollar ratio is about 30:1 (1 US dollar = 30 Thai baht), so an hour into our cab ride to meet up with Teebags we only owed about $1.33.

Pretttty awesome...

We found Tee at the department store she now works for.

Had lunch in their epic food court.

And then explored random Thai sites.

At one point I dropped my SLR.

Badness.

Luckily I have a backup...

...........................

After Tee got off work, she picked us up and drove us to a little hole in the wall pad thai place that serves awesome egg-encased pad thai.

That was just an appetizer.

From there we went to another random delicious restaurant that looked like someone's yucky garage.

They featured delicious crab claws.

And they were sooooo good.

As was the crab fried rice.

Next we went to a bar on the water called Amorosa.

They served delicious looking but terrible tasting drinks...

And then as if we hadn't done enough already, we went with Tee to her friend's birthday party at this other rooftop bar atop this building:

It was an incredible view...but a Heineken and a lemonade cost me $30 dollars.

Weak sauce.

Felly and Anne were so exhausted.

But the exhaustion turned to delirium and we managed to have a good time.

Phew. Good night.
