Clarence... has a maid.

Clarence just got a maid.

Hilarity.

So...it's not that weird to have a live-in maid in Hong Kong.

Maids are pretty inexpensive. About $4000 HKD a month (roughly $500 US).

Most practical people (Jessup, for example) hire a maid to clean their apartment once a week or so.

But...Clarence is a single dude living by himself in a two-bedroom apartment.

I guess it's kiiiiiind of like a roommate.

Except that the roommate is a 40-year-old Filipino woman who lives in your closet, is ALWAYS around, and all she does is clean up after you and fluff your pillows and boil eggs for you whenever you desire.

Clarence you are a goofy goofy bastard.

(Rugby post is coming. There are just so many pics. Takes some time. Keep your panties on.)

Pseudo night out

Ever been in vehicular elevator?

Us either.

Clarence and I had a sweet gnocchi dinner in this wacky little area called Knutsford Terrace, then met up with Timmo in LKF at a cool little bar called TiVo. (Oh those Asians...)

Tim made a call to get us a table at Dragon-I for "Models Night"...

But we couldn't get in due to Clarence's "attire".

Sweet one Clarence.

No worries though, Sat night will be epic.

Knutsford Terrace and the Felix

After Shenzhen we headed out to Tsim Sha Tsui where there's this new-ish trendy little area called Knutsford Terrace that's kind of like a mini Lan Kwai Fong.

We stopped first at this Irish Pub where we got a sweet giant beer dispenser tap thing and drank gallons of beer in lieu of having dinner...

The two little appetizer things were just barely enough to keep us from getting supremely shit-canned.

Filled with beer = Filled with happy.

We then headed over to The Felix at top of the Peninsula which boasts the greatest view of any bar in Hong Kong.

After a round of overpriced martinis, we headed back to Knutsford to a silly bar called:

Met up with Eugene (who just moved back to HK from Boston) and his new roommate and BFF Calvin.

(Euge, Clarence, and I went to Deerfield together and KristyKwan is family friends with Calvin and e-introduced him via facebook to Clarence (who she has never even met) who then introduced him to Eugene (who she also has never met) but they hit it off and now Calvin and Eugene are roommates.)

Anne made a questionable judgement call and ordered a round of Long Islands.

Long Islands resulted in dancing...

...which resulted in Felix's head in the fridge at 2am finding nothing but juices and frog heads.

Pretty Sweaters!

I'm super jet-lagged right now.

I was supposed to meet up with a bunch of high school friends last night so I had dinner then took a power nap from 8pm-10pm. I set my alarm for 10 and when I woke up I texted Clarence to find out where everyone was at. While I was waiting for a response though I fell back asleep and there was no more alarm to wake me up.

I woke up at 4am to a bunch of missed calls and texts wondering if I was dead.

Oops.

..............

But yay, time to catch up on forgotten blogs. I was so preoccupied with packing up the apartment and getting ready for HK that I forgot to post about the Pretty Sweater "Party".

Believe it or not I've never been to an Ugly Sweater Party, so I decided to throw my own. However, I think buying an ugly sweater that you're only going to wear once is silly. As such, I wanted to have a party featuring Non-Ugly sweaters that would be usable all season long.

Isn't that thoughtful? Yay.

It was a smaller group than usual but we got to hang out and play several games of Asshole and Kings.

And then we hit the barz.

By the way, Annie has a fabulous new blog and you should check it out:

Smileyjohn and I ate cheesesteaks.

While Jesse passed out gripping his face.

I love the holidays!

Post-New Years HK / Dragon-I

Things after New Years were a little more low-key.

Eugene and his sister Michelle hosted a fantastic Deerfield dinner in Repulse Bay.

.....................................

The day after I got a little bit of a cough. And so I ate a goose head and monky foot and some nasty chinese medicine my grandma gave me and instantly got better.

I checked out the back of the medicine box and realized why...

.............................................................

We went out to this weird Chinese restaurant that was delicious but so strange in that the waitstaff are allowed to answer their cellphones while they are working. I literally saw three different waiters/bus-people stop what they were doing completely and have casual personal conversations. So weird.

Also they were prepping for a super Asian wedding where the bride's name is Jelly.

I had to look twice. At first I thought it said "FELLY and Marc", which kind of makes sense if it's a gay wedding and one husband just happens to be named Felly short for Felix.

But no.

Jelly.

.........................................................

I went out one night with my new friend Garrick and met a bunch of HK g's.

.......................................

And then Pat - also known as PPL - who was once my favorite person but I haven't seen since high school, landed in town.

We shopped for chinky trinkets and then went to Ajisen Ramen in Mong Kok where Felly and Anne and I went last time and it is a chain but chains in HK are awesome and so cheap and you HAVE to try the Beef w/Garlic Flake and I really like run-on sentences. It is sewwwww good.

The spicy beef ramen ain't bad either.

Later on we also met up with fellow Deerfielder Kady at the top of LKF hotel.

And former-Spice Girl / Felix's former co-high-school-Class-President (our world is so small) Lindsay was in town and joined us as well.

Everyone was in town for random business school adventures and stuff.

And Kady just picked up a cool Polaroid cammy from Japan.

...........................................

FINALLY.....last night, which was my last night in town, I met up with non-Kwan cousins and aunties for a fancy dinner.

And then met up with Chavelli, Roxanne, and friends.

And Clarence!

And PPL of course.

To know Chev and Roxy is to know HK's Paris and Nicky Hilton without having to know the Hilton's best friends (herpes and awfulness).

It seems like a decade ago when Tim and I first met them and they brought us to the brand-new (at the time) Dragon-I.

Somehow, four years later, Dragon-I has managed to remain the hottest club in HK.

Wednesday at D-i is Models Night. (Jesse you would love it.)

Chev got us all into the club with no hassle whatsoever. Love her.

Anyway. Yay. It was a ton of fun.

And I met a fellow giant.

And we bumped into other Browns.

HONG KONGGGGGG

It's so cool to have seen/met so many people in Hong Kong this time around.

Greatest city ever.

Let me know if you want to come next time. Will be back for sure in Feb 2011 if not sooner.

Open invitation to everyone! (Probs can't stay with me though, big Kwan reunion.)

OK I'm jumping on my flight back to LA.

BYE!
