Prop 8 Rally

In response to Prop 8 looking like it was going to pass, the gay leaders called the entire community and its supporters together for a rally last night.

At first we lined Santa Monica Blvd @ San Vicente.

But then, people started storming the intersection...

And before long we had stopped traffic for miles.

So awesome.

We then marched down to the Pacific Design Center where speeches were being given.

Did you know that 85% (or some crazy number I don't remember) of the Prop 8 campaign was funded by the Mormon church?

If you have some free time today, go find a little Mormon baby...and KILL IT!

Supercuts brought Bailey, who was a crowd favorite.

Tall Jesse and Marcus joined in too.

I think this whole Prop 8 ordeal has been really incredible because it forces the gays to drop the attitude for a minute and to come together for a united cause.

Almost everyone I know spent at least some time volunteering or phone banking or at least donning a Vote NO sign at some point.

This is the first time I've felt the whole community really come together and it makes me really proud.

Who knows what will happen next?

One thing I do know for sure is that this is not the end, and that there can only be progress, because as history has shown, there may be minor setbacks along the way, but in the end, good always prevails. What is right is right. And we will only gain more and more support as we press onward for acceptance and equality.
