Night at the Museum!

In between nights of debauchery we decided we needed to do some more-wholesome, enriching activities.

Like visiting museums.

And eating.

...................eating first.

(The french toast at Le French Diner across the street from me is HEAVENLY.)

As is everything else on the menu.

On our way up to the MoMa, we passed by Radio City Music Hall where Lady Gaga was performing.

Originally the impetus for Smileyjohn and Jesse's trip out, our hopes of attending Gaga's New York concerts were quickly dashed when we saw that the tickets for her concert (for 3 seats all-together) were going to be more than $500 each. (On the day of the show they rose to about $800.)

Supersad poorpersonface.

We saw her tour bus though! Woohoo!

The MoMa is currently featuring a Tim Burton exhibit. (Also sold out, though we did manage to sneak in. No photos allowed. Really cool exhibit.)

Lots of interesting arts were seen.

And of course there were the classics...

Like Monet...

And Rothko...

And Warhol...

And Picasso...

And then....there was random suit-on-a-wall and stuffed-donkey-with-a-javelin-through-its-head.

And "chair"...

And Jesse's doppelganger statue.

We loves the MoMa!

Oh!!! And THEN we saw this DUMBASS ASIAN literally lean AGAINST "A Starry Night" to have her picture taken.

Her back was PRESSED against the canvas!

Girl got YELLLLLLED at, but still had the nerve to try to take a picture with it. So I took one of her stupid asian face.

(This all happened the day before some bitch who tripped and ripped a hole in a $100 million Picasso at the Met. Methinks I know who did it!)

WE LOOOOVES THE MOMA.

MoMa Day

Went to the Moma this weekend. Probably one of my favorite places in the city.

Things we saw:

Picasso Sculptures

Jackson Pollocks.

More Picassos.

Warhols.

A lint masterpiece...

Weird awesome fun pop art made of stick figures.

And the Dali exhibition which was sick.

Did you know Dali did a collaboration with Walt Disney where he made an 8-minute short film that was Fantasia-esque? It was a project that kind of fell apart, but in recent years it's been finalized and fully-animated and it was pretty freakin' awesome.

Imagine a moving Dali painting with a hot hottie supermodel princess...that turns into a dandelion. Worth the trip if the only thing you see is the film.

Chill NYC Weekend

Sorry it's been a while.

I've been in NYC for several weeks now and I've kind of settled into a routine.

Normally I'm only here for a week at a time so I've got to go out, see everyone, and do everything within a few days. It's always fun-central and there's always stuff to report.

But now that I'm living here, I'm totally boring.

I eat. Work out. Meet clients. Eat. Do the occasional shoot. Play poker. Meet gays. Rent a movie. Eat.

There hasn't been anything particularly blogworthy to report.

I know you miss me though. I know you are just sitting there clicking "refresh" over and over waiting for me to update.

And I miss you too.

I don't want to disappoint you.

So.....how was your weekend?

Mine was great.

Pretty low-key.

MAO and I museum-hopped, first stopping by the Whitney...

...which featured several exhibits featuring the works of Buckminster Fuller...

...and a giant pleather sandwich.

Then we hit up the Met for the Superheroes exhibit (no cameras allowed).

The Met is really beautiful.

................

Felix's sister Vitri was in town with her new fiance Jordan.

(The engagements are neverending.)

We had some awesome Italian.

Drank beer towers and bowled...

And hit up some rando parties where there were lots of rando Brown people...

So yeah. You see? Not super blog-worthy.

Fun for me. "Meh..." for you.

.....................

Gotta love those Bhandaris though.

They will rule the world.

Murakami and other Japanese treasures

MAO took the day off work to take me (wheezing and sneezing) to the Murakami exhibit at the Brooklyn Museum.

You might recognize Murakami's work from the revolutionary Louis Vuitton bags he designed that broke from the traditional brown/beige LV design and began integrating colorful cartoony-goodness.

(Jessica Simpson rocked the Murakami bag the entire first season of Newlyweds.)

Murakami also designed the artwork for Kanye's latest album.

Art is cool.

Cartoons are cooler.

Cartoon art is the best.

Long live Takashi Murakami!

Afterwards we walked next door through the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens.

It is spring.

Flowers are everywhere.

I dare say it was quite pretty.

"Everything's so lush!"
"You're a lush."
"Oh..." [sad face]

There was a Bonsai exhibit.

Also there was a Japanese pond surrounded by cherry blossom trees.

Anne likes to smell things.

A lot.

Thank you Japan for all the wonderful things (and half-things) you have blessed upon this Earth.
