Broadway Bares!

For the Grand Finale to our epic Kross Kuntry Adventure. We attended Broadway Bares, a one-night-only charity event put on by the hottest male and female performers on Broadway.

Basically there are 12 musical numbers featuring incredible choreography with scantily clad hotties.

The show was sold out, but several of my former headshot clients were involved in the show so we got hooked up with tickets. Yay!

To check out a video from a few years ago: click here

(The production values of our show I think were much much better.)

We got the Roseland Ballroom, where the show was being held, and it was PACKED.

We bumped into Browngays Mark and JoeScat...

And (of course) devised a sneaky-asian scheme involving fake wristbands to get us up front into the VIP section...

The theme this year was "Click It"...

So the opening number involved Internet SURFing...

My client Eddie was in the opening number (below, right).

Another number was "You've Got Mail/Male"...

There was a random "Stimulus Package" themed number...

A tribute to the EPIC YouTube Music Video "Shoes"...

A number featuring naked aerialists...

Some all-girl numbers...

A surprise appearance by Broadway icon Allison Janney...

(which received a well-deserved 10-minute-long applause)...

And then, what I think was the sexiest number, "Fantasy Football".

And then there was the grand finale which featured all hundred or so performers...

And an appearance by the guy from Ugly Betty...

Amazing amazing show. I would have paid just to see the opening number.

At a certain point, Danny turned to me and said "L.A. SUCKS!!!!!"... and it's true, such an intricately organized event could never be put be put on by a bunch of volunteers in L.A...

NYC IS THE BEST!

Thank you Danny for accompanying me on our amazing adventure!

The Rent Lottery!

I mean...you knew we were going to win, right?

There's just no way we weren't going to.

Life is too perfect. Things just work out.

God bless the sweet baby jesus.

I met KG at the theater at 5:30 to line up for the daily ticket lottery.

Each day they award two front-row seats to 17 people for the cheapo price of $20 a ticket.

The show ends its twelve-year run in September. As such, hundreds of people showed up trying to win the tickets.

I gave $2 to the homeless man outside the theater in exchange for instant karma.

We filled out our cards...

And at 6pm they started calling out the names of the winners.

We waited...and waited...

...and with only two names remaining to be called...we won.

With two hours before showtime, we celebrated with Italian food.

Finally...it was showtime.

Our seats were ridiculous.

Seriously, we were so close that the actors continually showered us with spit as they sang.

The show was INCREDIBLE.

I'd seen the movie. And I loved it. But the live show is exponentially better and blew me away.

Tracie Thoms, who plays Joanne in the movie, played the same role onstage tonight. The girl who played Mimi had the sickest body I have ever seen. And every single singer, down to even the minor background characters, had an incredible voice.

It. Was. So. Good.

Watching Rent on the heels of Spring Awakening made me realize what a totally uninspired turdfest the latter show is.

KG left the theater skipping and singing.

As I pranced out of the theater into Times Square, I pretty much felt as good as you possibly can about life.

NYC is so awesome.

I have to live here soon.

Weekend in the Poconos

So we arrived at our Poconos rental.

A nice 3-bedroom pad that, with man-on-man pull-out-couch spooning, ended up sleeping 11 or 12.

Our first meal was an epic one, with half the table ordering Chicken Parmesan subs, and the other half ordering Meatballs.

(I think these people are my soulmates.)

We played by the lake...

Launched water balloons...

Played golf...

(With deer watching our every move.)

Hit the "beach"...

Cooked up a storm...

Fed our friendly little neighbors...

Bought and played with fireworks...

And played fun little party games that did not involve any alcohol whatsoever.

There was some interpretive dance and ... um ..."exercising"...

Pillow fights...

...Roaring...from the...balcony....?

And your usual um...singing...and clapping...games...

Oh and there was this um...contest... which culminated in the wearing of a watermelon helmet.

Pretty wholesome stuff for the most part.

Props go to Taku for putting the whole weekend together.

Okay fine there was a little drinking.

But that's all I'm really allowed to say.

What happens in Poconos stays in the Poconos.

.................

Go Team Poconos!
